It’s a wrap for The Road to The Honda Classic!

After colourful events on the last day, this year’s Honda Classic culminated in a four-man playoff about a week ago. It was the young American Russell Henley who birdied The 549-yard 18th that was the first playoff hole and took home a win – his second on the PGA Tour.

Now that the tournament weekend is over it’s also time to wrap up our Road to The Honda Classic campaign. Between 24th of January and 16th of February we gave all American golfers a chance to win a VIP experience at this year’s Honda Classic. All they needed to do was play at least one round of golf using GameBook.

The 5 Lucky Winners

We randomly drew four weekly winners and one grand prize winner out of all rounds played in the US during the contest period. The weekly winners – George Roeske, Colby Amparan, Kenny Capouya and Jeffrey Waggoner – all received a Honda Classic merchandise package. The one lucky grand prize winner ended up being Richard Joblove, who received a weekend hospitality package for two.

The winner was naturally really happy to be receiving such a great prize. “The Road to The Honda Classic was fantastic!”, Richard said after winning. He fully enjoyed his time at the beautiful PGA National Resort & Spa. “The weather was great, the food was great and the company was even better.” In addition to GameBook founders Mikko Manerus and Mikko Rantanen greeting him there he got to have a chat with GameBook ambassador, Major winner Stewart Cink.

Richard Joblove is an avid user of the GameBook service. “As the ‘Commissioner’ of my Doral golf group, Golf GameBook is a great application in assisting me in scheduling the pairings and tracking the individual players. The Live Leaderboard allows us to follow the other players, just like the pros! No more messy scorecards, we merely review the scores posted while playing and use them to determine the winners”, he complimented.

What’s the Score?

When The Road to The Honda Classic contest was over we kept building the excitement for the actual event here on our blog. To make following the weekend action more interesting, we asked you to guess the winning score of this year’s event and promised to send 10 dozen golf balls to one winner that had foreseen the right result. The catch was that the golf balls would be the same kind that the winner of The Honda Classic used.

In the end Henley’s winning result was 8 under par and our contest went into a playoff – just like the tournament itself. There were 5 correct answers and we randomly drew the winner among them. 10 dozen Nike RZN Black golf balls are now on their way to Richard Kim who ended up being the lucky one.

The winner of our What's the Score contest was Richard Kim, one of the five who could guess the winning score of The Honda Classic.

Richard had based his guess on the results from last year’s tournament but was expecting Rory McIlroy to be the winner instead of Russell Henley. “To be completely honest, I really never knew of Russell Henley before the Honda Classic. I was rooting for McIlroy, I just love how classic and effortless his swing is.”
Richard will be receiving 10 dozen of Nike Golf RZN Black golf balls – the same kind Henley uses. “Unfortunately I don’t play enough rounds per year to make 10 dozen an annual supply, but hopefully I go through them in 2 years”, Richard said.

Congratulations once again to all winners! And a big thank you to all of you who participated in the contests.
