If you are an avid golfer you have probably heard of Volvo World Golf Challenge, no matter which part of the world you are from. Every year this global tournament sees club golfers from almost 40 countries competing for the victory. They begin their journey at their local golf club hoping to turn it into the golfing experience of a lifetime. The journey takes players from all around the world to the World Final, where they will not only compete for being crowned the champion but also have the chance to play in European Tour’s Volvo Golf Champions – the actual tournament, live on worldwide TV! That for sure is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exists nowhere else.
Each participating country hosts specifically tailored qualification events, anything from just one or two tournaments to a season-long program of local tournaments and a national final. This year Golf GameBook is also involved in this process, offering all golfers in both Sweden and Austria the opportunity to participate. The mobile tournament is called Volvo World Golf Challenge Unlimited and it is open to all golfers in both countries. Participating is completely free of charge, easy and fun. All you have to do is play a round of golf and record your score with GameBook. Each round resulting in 30 or more Stableford points will give you one entry into the prize draw.
Since its launch in 1988 as the Volvo Masters Amateur, more than one million golfers from all over the world have enjoyed competing in this exciting event. Last year the World Final was hosted at Zimbali Country Club, 45 km north of Durban, South Africa. A total of 74 amateur golfers from 32 different countries played against each other competing for both the honour of being named world champion and the unique opportunity of Playing With The Pros. Team GameBook was more than exited to be providing live scoring for the amazing tournament, allowing the players’ friends to follow the action hole by hole all over the world.
At the end of the two-day tournament it was Chuan Wang from China who was crowned the champion. And along with him, the rest of the top 18 got the experience of a lifetime when playing in the Volvo Golf Champions event together with pros such as Paul Casey, Jose Maria Olazabal, Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Björn, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Padraig Harrington and GameBook ambassador Mikko Ilonen.
The 10-week long Volvo World Golf Challenge Unlimited has just passed its midpoint in Sweden and the 3rd contest week is approaching its end in Austria. So all golfers from both countries still have plenty of time to record their rounds with GameBook in the hopes of advancing to the country specific finals that will be played in September.
And who knows, with great skills and good luck you could be the one who lifts the trophy in this year’s World Final and joins some of the worlds best players for a round of golf at Volvo Golf Champions.
